Seventh Sports is proud to be associated with the PGA of Nigeria as official Sports marketer and event planner in a bid to restore the glory of PRO Golf sports in Nigeria.

Following the successful hosting of the PGA@50 tournament and celebration held at the Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, the PGA has received large accolades and encouragement from within and outside Nigeria, and many are encouraged that this will be, the beginning of greater things for the Professional golf Community.

The 50th anniversary tournament was a great spectacle as it paraded incredible golfing talents, the best Nigeria has to offer, with diaspora contestants from Zimbabwe, Ivory Coast, Ghana and Cape Verde.

The final lap of the tournament was quite keenly contested, as we saw a battle not just between two individuals, but two nations, anchored by Nigeria’s current number one golfer and the only Nigerian on the World Golf ranking, Andrew Oche Odoh, who went head to head with a seasoned veteran and 1994 Winner of the Nigeria Cup, Ghana’s Amos Korblah.

Andrew Oche took the hard-fought victory and recounted in his victory speech that the PGA@50 tournament was quite interesting and keenly contested as his fellow golfing compatriots constantly pushed him to the limits, but his patience paid off in the end, resolving to focus on enjoying the game per day, rather than focus on the competition.

Odoh used the opportunity to call for more corporate involvement in Professional golf tournaments in Nigeria, to grow the game, help the pros sharpen their skills to represent Nigeria internationally, as well as further diversify Nigeria’s revenue base via sports investment, thereby creatimg employment for Nigeria’s growing youth population.
