Real Madrid Beat Atletico Madrid on Penalties to Win 2020 Spanish Super Cup

Coach Zinedine Zidane bagged his first piece of silverware, and Real’s 11th Super Cup win in total, two fewer than Barcelona’s record of 13. since his return as Real Madrid won the Spanish Super Cup after beating local rivals Atletico Madrid 4-1 in a penalty shootout on Sunday at the King Abdullah Sport City Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

 

The match had ended 0-0 after 120 minutes despite multiple chances for both sides.

Sergio Ramos netted the winning penalty after Dani Carvajal, Rodrygo and Luka Modric had all sent Jan Oblak the wrong way, while Saul Niguez hit the post, and Thomas’ spot-kick was saved by Thibaut Courtois.
